news100214_500x375Recentry a group of actors were working on a new theatrical play  never performed in Armenia before.  The play is called “Water by Spoonful”  written by Quiara Alegria Hudes  which won the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The play was presented in the scopes of High Fest International Performing Arts Festival partnered with the U.S Embassy in Armenia.

The play tells the story of an American veteran of the Iraq war and his trauma  to reintegrate in the “normal” life. The play shows the process of his sufferings when dealing with the society which denies all the sacrifices he made during the war and consequently his own life and history. The heros of the play face difficulties to overcome their isolation and the struggle for the preservation of relationships once belonging to them.

As John Heffern, U.S. Ambassador wrote in his letter, “While at first much of the play might seem uniquely American, its themes of isolation and the potential for redemption are universal, and I hope they will resonate with Armenian audience as much as they do with American theater-goers and critics.

The play was performed a total of ten times two of which were within the festival.
